Wanted to give you an update on what the first couple weeks of LUG will look like: * This Thursday (the 11th) I will be giving my "famous" keyboard layouts talk. I'll send an email with full details later on. * The following Thursday will be a talk on GPG and we will have a key signing party. Again, details to follow. * After that, we need talks from YOU As I don't think anyone else has signed up to do anything yet (or maybe you told me and I forgot...) Not sure what room we will be meeting in yet. Stay tuned! Jack -- Jack M. Rosenthal ( http://inside.mines.edu/~jrosenth Graduate Student, Computer Science ) http://jack.rosenth.al No keyboard. We're starting off the semester with an exciting talk: "On Keyboards and Things" (formerly known as "something"). This talk covers the history behind typewriter and computer keyboard layouts, and follows with an exploration of a variety of alternative keyboard layouts. Included is Jack's famous 3l keyboard layout, and suggestions on how to learn new keyboard layouts. So come nerd out with us. Date: Thursday, 2018-01-11 Time: 6 PM Location: ALAMODE Linux Lab (BB 136) Free Pizza! Also: 1. Linux help session right before at 5 PM (same room). 2. I'm going to be in Germany next Thursday, so GPG talk and key signing party will have to wait. Any other takers for a talk that day? 3. Don't worry, we won't be in ALAMODE all semester. We're waiting for the new Linux lab in the CASE building to open. See you there! Jack -- Jack M. Hi Jared, Normally, we meet Thursdays at 6 PM, and we have Linux help sessions right before at 5 PM on Thursdays. This week there is the C-MAPP event Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM, so we won't be having either this week. If you happen to be free Monday at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, you can come to my office hours for help with your laptop if you'd like. They are held in the ALAMODE lab (BB 136). If you stay subscribed to this list, you'll get emails with updates about our meetings. Our next meeting should be on Thursday, 1/25. Jack -- Jack M.
