From jrosenth at mines.edu Wed Oct 4 10:36:41 2017 From: jrosenth at mines.edu (Jack Rosenthal) Date: Wed, 4 Oct 2017 10:36:41 -0600 Subject: LUG: Meeting Tomorrow: Esoteric Programming Languages Message-ID: <20171004163640.GA14959@mines.edu> LUGgers, Tomorrow, Sam Sartor will be giving a talk exploring a few esoteric programming languages. He did a talk similar to this one about a year ago... it should be really cool! Date: 2017-10-05 Time: 6 PM Location: GC 297 Food: Chick-Fil-A (per popular demand, we are getting the fried chicken sandwiches, not the wraps!) Other things: 1. Linux Help Session is directly before at 5 PM. Show up with whatever Linux things you want help with. Look for Adam Frick. 2. Next Thursday, we will be doing "Show & Tell", which is exactly what it sounds like from the name (bring cool things, show others)! Start thinking about what you might want to bring (no requirement to, you can always show up and just look at others' cool things). 3. Thursday, November 2nd we will not be having a regular meeting so that we can participate in the Shelton Elementary Math & Science Night (showing off cool CS outreach things). If you want to volunteer for this, please email me. I'm looking for about 4 volunteers. See you tomorrow! Jack -- Jack M. Show and Tell!! At our meeting tomorrow, people will show up with cool things, and you can check them out! In the past, we've had everything from mechanical keyboards to obscure computers there. Bringing something is not required, but we do encourage it. So why don't you show up? Date: Thursday, 2017-10-12 Time: 6 PM Location: CT B60 (notice this is not GC 297) Food: Jimmy Johns? Potentially... Linux Help Session will be directly before at 5 PM in same room (CT B60). If this room is not available then, then Adam leave a note on the door with where you'll be. Also, CCIT is hosting a cyber-security awareness event on Halloween with tons of prizes available. Have you ever pondered these questions? * What is Email? * How does my Email get from one person to another when we use different servers? * How can I send an Email using nothing but telnet and a keyboard? * How can someone "spoof" that they are sending Email as someone they are not? * What's a MTA? MUA? IMAP? POP3? LMDP? SMTP? * What Email server software is available for Linux? * How do I setup Postfix and Dovecot to play nicely together? If you answered YES to any of the questions above, I have the talk just for you: Email and Email Servers Date: 2017-10-19 Time: 6 PM Location: GC 297 Dinner provided! Also, a number of people mentioned to me they wanted to volunteer with the Shelton Math & Science Fair on Thursday, but I don't think I got all of your emails. If you were one of them and haven't sent me an email yet, just drop me one :) More info on the Shelton thing here (see #3): https://mailman.mines.edu/pipermail/lug/2017-October/000383.html -- Jack M.
