We are meeting in CTLM B56 at 6:00PM. The meeting will mostly be me figuring out where everyone stands and what everyone wants out of the club. There will still be a quick bit on ssh'ing into computers, and some handy tricks to go with that. I apologize for the short notice, and hope you all can make it. See you there, --Zachary Stigall From zstigall at mymail.mines.edu Wed Feb 22 12:07:38 2012 From: zstigall at mymail.mines.edu (Zachary Stigall) Date: Wed, 22 Feb 2012 12:07:38 -0700 Subject: LUG: Slides From Last Night Message-ID: <20120222190738.GA9659@THWOMP.int.lanfort.org> Here are the slides from last night: Intro Slides: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13233163/LUG/meetings/001/001_Intro.pdf SSH Slides: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13233163/LUG/meetings/001/001_SSH.pdf Our next meeting will be same time next week, I will inform you of any room changes (hopefully we can get a Linux lab to use) If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. See you next week, --Zachary Stigall zstigall at mymail.mines.edu From zstigall at mymail.mines.edu Mon Feb 27 15:33:27 2012 From: zstigall at mymail.mines.edu (Zachary Stigall) Date: Mon, 27 Feb 2012 15:33:27 -0700 Subject: LUG: Meeting tomorrow Message-ID: <20120227223327.GA16459@thwomp> Our meeting this week is going to focus on getting everyone setup with a Linux install on their personal machine, multiple OS'es, virtualizing, or running nothing but Linux. We will discuss several of the most popular distributions and some of the challenges you may face installing them. Bring a blank CD or Flash drive if you intend to install Linux (I don't have enough to supply the club). The reasoning behind getting Linux running on your own machine is that we will not be able to meet in a Linux Comp. Lab (Registrar won't reserve them, and CCIT has none), and I want you to be able to participate in the group. Also so you can get more familiar with using Linux in general. I also want to hammer out future topics, and a basic idea of the order we will cover them. Meeting Details: Date - 28 February 2012 Time - 6:00 PM Place - CTLM B56 See you there. --Zachary Stigall
