My alumni connection told me that the position had been closed already because they had gotten so many applications. So sorry for having gotten you interested and then taken it away. You might check out the website for City of Denver anyway and just keep your eyes open for possibilities. Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! Happy Career Fair week #2! And happy midterms! The following announcement is from GSG: *Picture a Scientist Film Screening & Panel Discussion* Film screening: On-demand, October 24, 2020 at noon ? October 26, 202 at noon, MDT Panel discussion with two of the film?s featured scientists and directors: Virtual, October 27 at 5:00 PM, MDT For more information and to register . Registration is required. Film overview: Picture a Scientist started from exploring reports in the late 1990s that exposed significant gender inequity across the sciences. As we [directors] dug into the data and spoke with dozens of scientists, we realized the vast extent of the challenges facing women and minority scientists. Despite groundbreaking efforts by the courageous scientists featured in the film and elsewhere, gender bias and racism persist. Our goal in making the film was to raise visibility around these critical issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in science and invite viewers into a deeper conversation about how to make science more inclusive. ______________________________________ Hope you all have a great week! -- *Claire Isabelle Knight* Engineering and Technology Management Master's Degree 2021 B.S. The training has been incredibly valuable to many of us in EB and has helped us talk with students, family, friends, and colleagues about suicide and get them to help when they?ve needed it. We have arranged a special 90-minute EB version of the training on Thursday, November 5th from 3:30 ? 5pm. We will need everyone who will be present to RSVP here. On the RSVP form, you will be asked to share the physical address and phone number where you can be reached during the training. This is for the safety of our participants - we must be able to reach out to anyone who might need support while discussing the tough topic of suicide. Additionally, we request that participants use their video cameras during the training, unless you are unable or unsafe doing so. Since this often comes up as part of the training, I?d also like to make sure that everyone is familiar with our Counseling Center?s current protocol around providing crisis services for Mines students.
