Innovation and Analytics Program Overview
The City of Boulder's Office of Innovation and Analytics invites creative Mines students to help with defined innovation projects. The project will last 8-10 weeks and focus on one of the following areas:
* Process Improvement and Enterprise Transformation Initiatives - Use standard LEAN methodologies for identifying and improving process areas within departments or across the city. Students with computer science skills can also begin to explore robotic process automation.
* Data Science - Work on City programs including Open Data, Data Oversight and Governance, and Analytics - Based on city data, research to understand community involvedness, effective strategies and lessons learned elsewhere.
* Performance Management - Support the city in its development of city-wide reporting, outcome measurement and continuous improvement.
* Challenge Initiatives with catalyst funds - Develop strategies or engagement processes to help showcase innovation within city departments.
Applicants should select and express interest in one of the above areas in their cover letter. The scholar applicant should be a rising college junior, senior or current advanced degree student focusing on public policy/administration, data science, government, statistics, business and economics, environmental science, or computer science. Applicants will be accepted for the 2018 Spring, Summer 1 and Summer 2 programs. Funding is available based on need.
